I wrote this song a year ago and have sung it on numerous occasions during the taking of Communion in the church service. The song comes from the passage in John chapter 6 where Jesus describes Himself as the living bread who came from heaven. Many disciples turned away from following Him when He said that they must partake of His body and blood. It says in verse 6 that Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Indeed the path of following Jesus is a narrow and painful one but where else would we go? Jesus has the Words of eternal life!
