Be still for the presence of the Lord

Such stillness at Staunton this morning. I could only hear the sound of the birds, the odd bleat of a sheep and the occasional footsteps of a passer by and their dog. Jesus calls us to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). Even creation is still, ceasing from its tumultuous rain, reflecting His glory. The verses came to mind ” weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning”(Psalm 30:5) After the waves and billows often comes the stillness, the still, small voice. He is still there. The old song “Be still for the presence of the Lord” filled my mouth as I sat staring at the waters, basking in the morning sun. A couple of people noted the prime location I’d sat in, warmed by the sun and commented upon it. Just as I had sat in an ideal spot to take in the stillness and sunshine so too when we sit in His stillness His light will radiate from us and cause others to notice. Sit in the light of the Lord’s countenance and you will unknowingly reflect His light. Proverbs 27:19 Says ” As in water face reflects face,
So a man’s heart reveals the man.” The reflection in the water is so much clearer in the light of the sun. So too the reflection of our hearts is clearer in the light of the Son, Jesus. May you rest in the stillness of His presence today basking in His light. May others be drawn to that prime position you hold seated in the heavenlies with your Saviour 🙏 💗
