Continuing with the beattitudes theme I’ve been exploring with my children (which I meant to post yesterday) :
No:2 “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted “. -Matthew 5:4
This song by Matt Redman exemplifies the hope that we have-that this world is not our home. One day, for those who have put their faith and lives into the hands of Jesus, we will see Him face to face. He will wipe away every tear.
The world often equates being blessed with prosperity, health, self esteem etc. How Jesus’ words here paint a different picture. If you are struggling, mourning, suffering..you are blessed. You are blessed because Jesus did not leave us alone when He ascended to heaven. He promised the Holy Spirit- also known as The Comforter. We are so blessed that we have the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the hope of an eternal home with the Lord. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). A friend reminded me this morning that we are to put on the garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness. If this is you today, sing out a song to Him.
I hope this can bless someone today. Please share your thoughts ❤
