This time of lockdown due to the Coronavirus has enabled me to record some new songs I have written. It seems fitting to release this song on Good Friday – the day we remember the sacrifice made once and for all for our sin. No longer do we need the blood of goats and calves to make atonement for our sin. Jesus became sin for us that we may become the righteousness of God in Him. I wrote this song out of a study I did on the Old Testament sin and grain offerings. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. In the New Testament we see that Jesus became the perfect sin offering as His blood was shed on the cross. I was intrigued to find that the grain offerings (of worship) were offered with salt. Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth. Salt has a purifying and preserving effect. It also allows the fire to burn under control and prevents odours being emitted. Salt in the ancient world was a precious commodity. Our worship to God is precious. May we come cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, offering our worship with purified hearts, preserved in Christ and sanctified by His Word for every good work…. May our hearts cries be to praise His name as we proclaim His death until He comes! He is risen! This is song no. 12 on my new album.
