Sarah’s dream: The Evil Tide, Jeremiah and the potter Friday 26 th March

I was standing on the edge of the shore with my hand out in front of me like a police officer gesturing to the traffic to stop. I was praying against the tide of wickedness that was coming in. The waves did not go past me. As I stood at the waters edge the words flashed before me: ‘Jeremiah and the Potter’. I had such a sense of revelation in this dream/vision. In the morning I prayed to remember it and the Lord was faithful to answer. I was not aware of the details following the verses about the Potter in Jeremiah 18:5-11

“5 Then the word of the L ORD came to me, saying:6“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the L ORD . “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!7 The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 9 And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it,10 if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it.”

11“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the L ORD : “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.”

As I read these verses I became aware of an impending judgement upon this land.

On Monday 29 th March I asked the Lord before laying down to sleep what the approaching evil coming from the sea in my dream would be. That night; Tuesday 30 th March 3:30am I awoke with the symbol of a serpent twisted around a rod. In Numbers 21 when the Israelites complained to the Lord about His provision, He sent fiery serpents which bit the people, causing many to die. When the people acknowledged their sin and sought forgiveness, the Lord instructed Moses to make a bronze serpent and put it upon a pole so that whoever would look upon it would be healed. The serpent typically symbolises Satan throughout scripture and bronze- judgement. This passage highlights that Satan is a tool in the hand of the Lord. The Lord can use Satan to bring judgement upon a people. Yet it is Jesus who crushed the serpent’s head when He defeated Satan on the cross. Jesus Himself in John chapter 3 verse 14 stated, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” So the Lord is the one who brings judgement for sin and yet He has provided the remedy – that we may look unto Jesus who has taken the punishment of sin upon the cross and defeated Satan.

In the following days I was led to read Chapter 19 of Jeremiah. It continues the imagery of the potter and details the sin committed by Israel:

“19 Thus says the L ORD : “Go and get a potter’s earthen flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders of the priests. 2 And go out to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the Potsherd Gate; and proclaim there the words that I will tell you, 3 and say, ‘Hear the word of the L ORD , O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the L ORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring such a catastrophe on this place, that whoever hears of it, his ears will tingle.4 “Because they have forsaken Me and made this an alien place, because they have burned incense in it to other gods whom neither they, their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known, and have filled this place with the blood of the innocents 5 (they have also built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or speak, nor did it come into My mind), 6 therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the L ORD , “that this place shall no more be called Tophet or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter. 7 And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hands of those who seek their lives; their corpses I will give as meat for the birds of the heaven and for the beasts of the earth. 8 I will make this city desolate and a hissing; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.”

As I read these verses it became apparent to me why God’s judgement was imminent. The valley of the Son of Hinnom and the Potsherd gate refer to suffering, child sacrifice and a refuse dump. The stench of the offerings of the Israelite’s children to Molech and Baal had risen up to the Lord. So too today, the bloodshed of abortion in this nation (over 200,000 babies aborted a year) rises up to the Lord and His judgement is being unleashed. Rather than seeking repentance for this sin, we have looked to another false god to bring healing to our land. We have looked to a counterfeit snake on the rod called Asclepius; the Greek god of Medicine – the very symbol used by doctors today. In Revelation chapter 18 verse 23 we are told that by Babylon’s sorcery “all the nations were deceived.” The word ‘sorcery’ is the word φαρμακεία (pharmakeia) which is where we get our English word ‘pharmacy’ from. The nations will be deceived by ‘pharmakeia’.

THERE IS STILL HOPE!!! Jeremiah 18:8 says “If that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.”

In my dream the prayers from intercession restrained the evil tide. The church must intercede for the unborn, for the lost souls who would abort them, for those who would pervert God’s design for the family. We must proclaim the One lifted up to take away the sins of the world, that the Lord may bring true healing. May the Lord raise up a faithful army to intercede for our nation at this critical hour. Will you be part of it?
