Practise for the test

This is me in my music room where I’ll spend 4 hours later on today with my piano pupils…You know I can always tell which ones have practised and which ones haven’t!

This got me thinking about life and our walks with the Lord.

We have a handbook full of instructions and answers aka the Bible. When times of testing come it will be clear whether we have been ‘practising’ what we believe. We need to be constantly feeding upon, meditating upon, acting upon the Word of God in our daily lives, even when life is floating along nicely. Why? Because when those difficult times come we will then be able recite those lessons learnt. I often repeat to my children Psalm 119:11 “Your Word I have hidden in my heart that I may not sin against You” and “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Is 2020 shaking your faith? Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You”. What a promise that is! We can have perfect peace when our minds are focused on the Lord.

God is challenging me lately that before I air a particular opinion about something to look to Him and ask for His perspective. Almost immediately the frustration and anger dissipates as I can see in a new light. Proverbs 9:10 says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” If I want to understand I have to know Him and seek the mind of Christ. Daniel in his captivity and visions of perilous times ahead was strengthened by the Word of the Lord. So I encourage each of us to be strengthened in His Word especially for the times ahead.I hope this can encourage you today. I felt compelled to write this. Please share your thoughts.

Much love 💜
