Freedom in the fire

Today I taught my piano pupils for the first time in my new music room *complete with sink for covid compliant handwashing😉(thank the Lord for a husband trained in plumbing!). Although it’s got some sound proofing still to be done for recording purposes it is an exciting day! Little did I know that when we planned to have this done it would become my teaching room separate from the rest of the house. God knew. He knew after 10 years living here we would need to get the work done for such a year as this one!

I must admit I haven’t found it easy with restrictions and freedoms being taken away..who has?! In fact the rebellious streak in me fosters defiant thoughts only to be brought back in line with the Holy Spirit’s still small voice. I listened to a teaching one day on the verses in Isaiah 43:2

“When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flames scorch you”. The preacher talked of the fiery furnace of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and how while in the fire they were not bound, they were free. Then I began thinking; these young men were taken off to Babylon into captivity. They had to do things so alien to them, serving under a different king, different language etc. They didn’t complain, yet they didn’t compromise in their worship of the living God. This is my prayer, that I would not complain during this ‘captivity’ yet not compromise in worshipping the living God.
I’d love to hear your thoughts 😊
