Birthday musings

A little family snap whilst out today… Also celebrating our daughter Kaitlin’s 7th birthday.
It was the year Kaitlin was born that a steady stream of songs began to flow after years of silence. I had no idea at the time what the purpose of my songs would be… I now have a backlog of unrecorded songs and have lost count how many I’ve written in the last 7 years! They were not contrived but purely an outworking of God’s Word in me. I believe “my songs” are His songs. It is only in the last year God really showed me their purpose. It was as if the phrase came out of nowhere but I sensed the Holy Spirit’s authorship: “Sowing seeds of faith through song”… that is the purpose of my music. My music is distinct in style but also in content. For each of my two albums I worked out there is an average of 60+ Bible verses per 12 songs. Isaiah 55:11 says “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to me void, but is shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”. God’s Word is powerful, sharper than a two edged sword and can cut straight to the heart of any matter. I am merely a vessel for the Lord to flow through. I’m not sure why I’m sharing this!? Perhaps someone reading this wonders what the purpose of their gift is? It may not be revealed yet but keep being faithful and tending to whatever the Lord has given you. At the beginning of this year I felt the Lord speak to me through 1 Corinthians 3:7 “So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase”. It is God who gives the increase! We may not know of that increase this side of eternity but we must trust Him and be faithful to do what He has called us to.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. God bless 💜
