Before the throne of God above (Cover)

The words to this song are so powerful and the newer chorus fits so well. How I rejoice knowing that I have a great High Priest who intercedes for me. My name is graven on His hands… Yesterday I shared a little excerpt from Psalm 139. Today as I thought about David’s words I realised that at the beginning of the Psalm it’s almost as if David is overwhelmed with God’s omnipresence. He realised as Jonah did there is no place he could hide from God. But then as the Psalm progresses David talks about how he is wonderfully made and God’s thoughts to him are more than the sands of the sea! The awesome omnipresent God becomes to David personal and comforting. By the end of Psalm 139 David is inviting God to search him: “Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting”

When we have a revelation of both God’s greatness and His nearness we come boldly to the throne of grace knowing that His corrective ways will bring us good and into a deeper understanding of His love.
